The following projects are undeway this week on Chittenden County roads, according to the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission.
The Checkered House Bridge on Route 2 has occasional one lane travel as work on the approach roads continue.
Work on the Route 7 sidewalk project near the Winooski town line continues. Work will be performed on both sides of the road. There will be occasional lane closures, and traffic control will be present. This project should be completed by Aug.10.
Work continues on repaving Vermont Route 128 from the intersection of Route 15 in Essex extending north on 128 for 5.7 miles into Westford. Traffic control will be present during the construction period and motorists are asked to use extreme caution. The project is expected to continue until Oct.4.
Weed Road is closed between Sleepy Hollow and Route 15 due to storm damage. Seek an alternative route.
The installation of a new traffic signal and left turn lane at the intersection of Sand Hill Road and Vermont Route 117 (River Road) will cause minor traffic delays. Traffic control will be present, the speed limit has been reduced to 30 miles per hour and fines are doubled.
Work on the Starksboro-Hinesburg Route 116 road improvement project will continue throughout the week. Throughout the week construction will take place between the elementary school and Commerce Street. Road construction will reduce traffic to alternating one-way travel from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the week. Traffic control will be present, and motorists should plan for lengthy delays. This project is expected to end in late August.
Main Road paving from the Richmond town line to Bridge 9 just before Texas Hill Road will cause minor delays through the end of August. All roads (Main, Mayo, Sherman Hollow, Texas Hill and Lavallee) will remain open throughout the project.
Interstate 89 – Richmond – Southbound
Traffic on I-89 southbound in Richmond on French Hill will be restricted to one lane with the speed limit reduced to 55 mph to repair damage caused by heavy rain. Motorists should pay attention to the message board at the merge area for directions between the heavy traffic hours of 3 p.m.-6 p.m. The anticipated completion date for this project is Aug. 30.
maintenance on the northbound Bridge #80 at mile marker 101 in Milton will reduce travel to one lane. The speed limit is reduced to 50 miles per hour, and motorists should plan for delays.
Sidewalk construction on Route 15 from the Underhill/Jericho town line moving west 800 feet to Palmer Road will reduce traffic to one lane at times for the next three weeks. Traffic control will be present.
Road construction on Tigan Street beginning at the intersection of Main Street working towards the end of the street will cause occasional lane closures. This project is expected to last until late August.

On Aug. 7, paving began on Route 7 starting at the Ferrisburgh/Charlotte town line and extending north for 1.1 miles. This project is expected to be completed within two days, weather permitting. Traffic control will be present and motorists are asked to use caution.
