Chittenden County Road Work


The Route 2 repaving project between Waterbury and Bolton will cause lane closures with alternating one lane travel. Traffic control will be present, and motorists should expect traffic delays.

Traffic on Main Street between South Winooski Avenue and South Union Street will be slow but open to both directions Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. until further notice.


There will be alternating one-way travel on East Lakeshore Drive between north of South Bay Circle and Williams Road to allow for stormwater repair. Traffic control will be present.

Essex Junction

Woods End Drive is closed from Rivendell to Acorn Circle from Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. for road construction. Properties in the construction zone will have access and the project should be completed by July 7.

Interstate 89 between Richmond and Colchester 

Work on I-89 between Richmond and Colchester includes milling in the southbound lanes to the end of the project, work on bridges north of Exit 15 northbound, and line striping northbound from mile marker 79 in Richmond to Exit 16. Motorists should expect lane closures and traffic delays. Work is Sunday through Thursday between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. and is weather dependent. The speed limit is reduced to 55 miles per hour, and fines are doubled for speeding within the construction zone. Motorists should use extreme caution while driving through the construction areas. This project is expected to be completed at the end of August.

Interstate 89 – Milton Lamoille River Bridges Project

The northbound right shoulder at the Milton Bridge is closed. Motorists should be aware of the possibility of unplanned lane closures to conduct maintenance during the week.

The bridge on Browns Trace near the intersection with Lee River Road will be closed through Aug. 15. Traffic will be detoured until the project is completed.

Construction at the intersection of Vermont Routes 2 and 117, at the Park & Ride entrance on Route 2 and from the Checkered House Bridge to east of the southbound I89 ramp on Route 2 will cause traffic delays.

South Burlington

Construction on the realignment of U.S. Route 2 between East Avenue and the ramps for I-89 by the Sheraton Hotel continues on the north side of U.S. Route 2 by the Sheraton lawn. The sidewalk will be closed from the Holiday Inn to the Sheraton driveway and pedestrian traffic will be detoured. Regular work hours are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. with no lane closures expected during peak hours. As the project moves forward, there may be lane closures during off-peak hours only. This project is expected to be completed July 31, 2015.


Road construction on Malletts Bay Avenue will cause occasional lane closures through July 1.
