Boys soccer faces Essex on Saturday

Coming off of two big wins last week, the Champlain Valley Union High School boys soccer team will face Essex at home on Saturday. The Redhawks defeated the Hornets 2-0 in their last contest. On Wednesday, after the Observer’s press time, they faced the undefeated Lakers at Colchester High School, a first this season.

The Redhawks were on the road over the weekend, with a 4-1 win over Brattleboro on Saturday. Senior Captain Shane Haley had a hat trick, with assists from sophomore Patrick McCue and junior Tucker Shelley. Haley scored the third point on a penalty kick. Shelley scored the final goal, with an assist from freshman Jeremy Richard.

CVU steamrolled Rutland 6-0 on Sept. 27, in a make-up game from the Essex Tournament that was postponed due to weather. Haley notched the first goal, with help from sophomore Max Brown. Richard scored the second and third goals, assited by Haley and Brown. Senior Noah Lieberman scored the fourth, then assisted Haley for the fifth score. Sophomore Hoyt McCuin put in the final point, with an assist from sophomore Oliver Choinere

“Both games were important for us after a tough 1-0 loss to Harwood,” CVU Coach TJ Mead wrote in an email to the Observer.

almost 3 decades ago when williston started it’s development review process the public works section was pushing for a wider roadway typical for residential streets. The town adopted 30 ft widths vs 24ft. That’s 6/24 (30%) additional impervious area and runoff that needs to treated before flowing into ALLEN BROOK. The town and selectboard have indicated a lack of interest to reach out and help communties like mine that have had expired stormwater permits for more then a decade. Its always been a wait and see, well I see where this headed now.
