The Champlain Valley Union High boys and girls volleyball teams will vie for the state title this weekend after winning semifinal matches earlier this week.

The boys volleyball team is heading to the state championship—set for Saturday at St. Michael’s College in Colchester at 3:30 p.m.—after beating Burlington High in a semifinal match Monday.

The CVU girls will play Essex High Saturday at St. Michael’s College at 1:30 p.m., trying for their third straight title.

The Redhawks beat Mid-Vermont Tuesday in Hinesburg 3-0, including a comeback win in the second set.

“Once again our serving was the difference in the match as the girls had a 93 percent service percentage including 16 aces,” said Coach Gino Johnson.

Last Friday, the girls team beat Randolph 3-0 in a quarterfinal contest.
