After two wins, the Champlain Valley Union High baseball team is headed to Mount Mansfield Union High’s field on Thursday with a 4-1 record.

“Our pitching staff is keeping us in games,” Coach Tim Albertson wrote in an email to the Observer. “We continue to capitalize when teams make mistakes. The best part about this team is they are selfless. We are getting production from the entire lineup.”

On Tuesday, Rayne Supple went two for four on a pair of doubles, hitting in a pair of runs for CVU to help the Redhawks defeat the Crimson Tide 7-4. Kyle Stanley got the win in relief, shutting down Spaulding over three innings as CVU rallied in the late innings. Davis Mikell had the go ahead single to score Deagan Poland in the sixth inning. Poland reached on a game-tying squeeze. Jamie Pierson also supplied two hits.

On April 25, late inning hits lifted the Redhawks past visiting Middlebury High School 10-2. Davis Mikell hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning to right center field. Kyle Stanley received his first win, going four innings, giving up one run, and striking out five batters. Jamie Pierson added two hits and two RBIs.
