Shred Fest for personal documents

Looking to dispose of that pile of confidential documents that’s been taking up space in a file cabinet? There’s a chance to do so on Saturday, Sept. 20 at the New England Federal Credit Union.

The credit union and SecurShred, a professional document shredding company, are hosting a Shred Fest from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The public can take private documents — including bank statements, credit card statements, credit card application offers, canceled checks and more — to be shredded.

There is no cost, though the credit union and SecurShred ask that participants limit themselves to five boxes of documents.

New England Federal Credit Union is located at 141 Harvest Lane in Williston. For more information, call 879-8790 or visit nefcu.com.

Giant pumpkin season

It’s that time of year again, when local growers try to raise the largest pumpkin in the land. Whitcomb’s Land of Pumpkins is sponsoring its third annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh-off and Display at noon on Oct. 12.

Williston schools benefit from the event, as Whitcomb’s will donate 25 percent of pumpkin sales — and corn maze admissions — to the school district.

Whitcomb’s is located on Fay Lane in Williston. For more information, call Mary Whitcomb at 879-5239.

Finding the right color
