Red Cross blood drives set for October

The American Red Cross, Northern New England Blood Services Region will hold several local blood drives in October, including two in Williston later in the month. Blood donations are needed to meet the basic need for hospitals this month. The American Red Cross urges those who are eligible to help meet the need by donating blood. Presenting donors in October will receive a chance to win a seven-day cruise for two from Boston to Bermuda on the Norwegian Dawn, courtesy of CruiseOne. Prizes are not redeemable for cash and are non-transferable.

Oct. 4, Saint Michael’s College Tarrant Gym, Colchester, noon – 5:30 p.m.

Oct. 8, Burlington High School, Burlington, 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Oct. 8, American Legion, Colchester, 2 – 8 p.m

Oct. 8, Essex Congregational Church, Essex Junction, noon – 5:30 p.m.

Oct. 10, Shelburne Town Center, noon – 5:30 p.m.

Oct. 17, Essex High School, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Oct. 18, Charlotte Senior Center, 2 – 7 p.m.

Oct. 19, Burlington Elks, 3 – 7 p.m.

Oct. 19, Camels Hump Middle School, Richmond, 11:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Oct. 22, Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Oct. 24, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Williston, 11:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Oct. 26, DEW Construction, Williston, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Oct. 30, Champlain College Hauke Lounge, Burlington, 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

In addition, the American Red Cross Donor Center, located at 32 North Prospect Street in Burlington, is open for donations Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. For a full blood drive listing, visit or call 1-800 RED CROSS.

CSSU Child Search

The Chittenden South Supervisory Union is interested in locating preschool age children (birth to 5 years) who live in the towns of Charlotte, Hinesburg, Shelburne, St. George and Williston, who show a developmental delay in the areas of speech/language, social adjustment, adaptive behavior, self-care, gross/fine motor coordination, and cognitive development.

If you know of such a child between the ages of birth to 3 years, please contact Melissa Hendrickson at the Chittenden South Supervisory Union at 383-1216; for such children between 3 to 5 years old, please contact the Early Educator at the elementary school in the town where the child resides; and for children who live in St. George, please call the Allen Brook School in Williston.
