After high-speed chase, suspect tracked down on River Cove Road

A high-speed chase ended with a one-car crash on Avenue C off Industrial Road in Williston on Sunday evening and the arrest of a Manlius, N.Y., man.

According to police, a traffic stop on a Ford cargo van went awry when the van fled down Route 15 in Essex after pulling over near Fort Ethan Allen. The van reportedly traveled to Route 2A, onto Industrial Avenue then crashed on Avenue C.

The driver then fled on foot and was captured on River Cove Road in Williston, according to police.

Police allege that the driver originally used a false identity but was later found to be 56-year-old Brian Jagodzinski, who had warrants for his arrest in New York and Vermont.

Jagodzinski was charged with attempting to elude, negligent operation, excessive speed, resisting arrest and providing false information to police. He was jailed at the Chittenden County Correctional Center.

Essex officers were assisted by Williston Police, Vermont State Police, Vermont Fish & Wildlife and Williston Fire-Rescue during the incident.
