900 reasons we love Williston

Observer photo by Marianne Apfelbaum

The Williston Observer’s third-annual Socks for Seniors holiday sock drive collected 900 pairs of socks to be donated to residents of area nursing homes during the holidays. “We are just blown away by the generosity of the people and businesses in our community,” said Marianne Apfelbaum, co-publisher of the Observer. “Our goal was 175 pairs, and we blew that number out of the water!” Cub Scouts, Roadrunners (RIGHT), TLC Nursing & Homecare, Kinney Pike Insurance and KinderStart Preschool (ABOVE) were among the businesses and organizations that participated. The Observer also thanks all the individuals and families who stopped by the office with hand-knit and store-bought socks. “These donations will bring true joy to local nursing home residents, many of whom do not get visitors or gifts during the holidays,” Apfelbaum said. “We can’t wait to deliver them this week!”
