Adam and Chana Sieffert of St. George are excited to announce the arrival of their son, Braysen Gerard Sieffert. He was born on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at 4:44 pm at UVM Medical Center, weighing 6 lbs. 15 oz., and measuring 20.5 inches long. Everyone is happy and healthy.

Helen Mary Cole

Helene Mary Cole, a long-time resident of the Williston area, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 84 years old. Helene was born in Burlington, Vt., on May 15, 1933; her parents were Leo Tourville and Helena Foreman. After graduation from Essex High School, she went to work at the Fanny Allen Hospital as a nurse. She was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Cole and her youngest son Glenn Cole.

Savvy Senior – New Medicare cards debut next year

Dear Savvy Senior,

I just received my Medicare card in the mail and was surprised to see that the ID number is the same as my Social Security number. I know it’s a bad idea to carry around anything that displays my Social Security number because it makes me vulnerable to identity theft. Wasn’t the government supposed to stop putting Social Security numbers on Medicare cards?
