Vermont Stage will produce “Dancing Lessons,” written by Mark St. Germain, at FlynnSpace March 9-27.

Appearing on stage in Vermont for the first time, “Dancing Lessons” is about a scientist with Asperger’s who knocks on the door of his neighbor, a Broadway dancer now sidelined from an injury, to seek dancing lessons so he can participate in an event being held in his honor. As their relationship unfolds, they’re caught off-guard by the hilarious and touching discoveries they make about each other that extend beyond mere footwork and reach straight into the soul. Champlain Valley Union High ended its post-season run Friday, bowing to fourth-seeded Mount Anthony 69-62 in a quarterfinal game.

Walker Storey and Adam Hamilton led the fifth-seeded Redhawks with 19 points apiece.

On Feb. 17, CVU defeated 12th-seeded St. Johnsbury Academy 61-21. Colin Monsey had 15 points, and Josh Bliss 10. Monsey had four 3-point shots in the first half, leading CVU to a 29-8 lead by halftime.

The CVU gymnastics team recently clinched a third-place finish in the state tournament.

The Champlain Valley Union High gymnastics team finished its season with a third place spot at the state meet, held Saturday.

“I am really proud of CVU Gymnastics this year,” Coach Madison Bourdeau wrote in an email to the Observer. “We became a team. We set aside practice time to set goals, write inspirational letters to our teammates, and have team dinners.”

Bourdeau said the team had its highest score of the season at the state meet.
